Child porn suspect who fought with cops gets prison term

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man who authorities say had more than 50,000 files of child pornography and assaulted two detectives as they arrested him is now headed to prison.

Peifeng Meng received a five-year sentence on Friday. He also must register as a sex offender and will be on lifetime parole supervision.

The 45-year-old Pennington man had pleaded guilty in March to distributing child porn and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Authorities say Meng tried to grab a detective’s gun as officers executed a search warrant at his home in December 2016. Two detectives stopped Meng from taking the gun, but both detectives suffered minor injuries during the struggle.

The child porn was found on computers and electronic devices in Meng’s home.
