Schoolhouse Used in “Hoosiers” Burns
NINEVEH, Ind. (AP) _ The schoolhouse used in the movie ″Hoosiers″ was destroyed in a fire early today.
The fire apparently started on the top floor of the three-story, brick-and- oak Nineveh Township School, said firefighter Rick Woehlecke. It was brought under control within three hours and nobody was hurt, Woehlecke said. The state fire marshal’s office was to investigate.
The 80-year-old schoolhouse had been vacant since 1985, the last year classes were held there and the year the movie was filmed. ″Hoosiers″ told the story of a small, rural high school winning the Indiana state basketball championship.
Nineveh is about 25 miles south of Indianapolis.
