COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Jay Edwards scored 27 of his 34 points in the first half as No. 3 Indiana defeated Ohio State 73-66 Wednesday night, clinching a tie for the Big Ten title.

The victory moved Indiana to 24-5 overall and 14-1 in the conference, while Ohio State, which lost its fifth straight game, fell to 17-11 and 6-9.

Edwards hit 10 of 12 shots - including 5 of 6 3-pointers - in the first half as Indiana built a 39-30 lead.

But Ohio State went on 15-2 run midway through the second half to pull even at 51. Jerry Francis scored nine points during the run.

Indiana regained the lead only to have Ohio State pull to within 65-64 on a tip-in by Perry Carter with 3:01 left.

But Jones hit a pair of free throws with 3:23 left and added a baseline jumper with 1:28 left for a 69-64 lead. Ohio State never got closer than the final margin.

Jadlow added 16 points and Joe Hillman 12 for the Hoosiers, now 7-1 on the road in the Big Ten.

Carter scored 20 points, Grady Mateen 18 and Francis 11 for Ohio State. Francis set a school record by playing in the 127th game of his career.

The Hoosiers have won the last eight games between the schools and now lead the all-time series 79-57.

Ohio State hit 24 of 61 shots for 39 percent, marking the third straight game the Buckeyes have failed to top 40 percent from the field. They outrebounded Indiana 39-29 as Carter had 11 and Mateen 10.

Indiana hit 26 of 59 shots from the field for 44 percent.
