2 Utah juveniles sought in handgun thefts from sports store
SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) — Police are looking for two juveniles who walked off with handguns from a sporting goods store in suburban Salt Lake City.
South Jordan police say the two teenagers each took a handgun out of a box full of weapons and concealed them in their clothing before leaving the Sportsman’s Warehouse at about 6 p.m. Saturday. One also stole handgun ammunition.
The theft wasn’t detected until store officials reviewed surveillance video and reported it to South Jordan police on Tuesday.
Police say tips about photos posted on social media indicate the boys are students at American International School of Utah — a charter school in neighboring Murray.
Police Lt. Matt Pennington told the Deseret News neither was at school Wednesday. One was there earlier this week but the other hasn’t been seen for a while.
