Exxon Subsidiary Enters Partnership for Quick-Lube Outlets
HOUSTON (AP) _ Exxon Co. U.S.A. and Mr. Lube International Inc. of Canada will form a partnership to develop quick-lube outlets in the United States, Exxon said Monday.
Financial arrangements to the partnership between subsidiaries of the two companies were not disclosed.
Mr. Lube Ltd. is the largest quick-lube chain in Canada with 47 stores in 13 metropolitan areas. The stores feature quick oil and filter changes for passenger cars and light trucks.
″We believe Mr. Lube’s successful experience with this relatively new concept for retailing motor oil provides an attractive opportunity for Exxon to enter into this rapidly growing segment of the motor oil market,″ said R.P. Larkins, Exxon USA marketing vice president.
The stores will feature Exxon products as well as other major motor oil brands to attract customers loyal to other brands, Larkins said.
Plans are to develop several stores in three to four pilot cities during 1988, he said.
Mr. Lube will be headquartered in Houston.
