Former union official gets 14 months in prison for thefts
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — An ex-official with a Chesapeake-based labor union has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for stealing from a bank account set up for ailing members.
Tamika Bullock pleaded guilty last year in federal court.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the former secretary treasurer of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 684 was sentenced Thursday.
Bullock used some of the roughly $24,000 she stole in 2016 to take a cruise.
The newspaper reports that the majority of the money Bullock took was from an account set up for “sick and distressed” union members.
