Rapid Growth of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association Accelerates the Professionalization and Standardization of the Mindfulness Field

WAKEFIELD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 4, 2018--The International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA) today announced it has achieved a growth milestone, marked by more than 250 members, including over 100 IMTA-Certified Mindfulness Teachers (CMT-P) and six IMTA-Accredited Mindfulness Teacher Training Programs (AMTTP). The IMTA’s rapid growth reinforces the organization’s leadership in creating a standardized, professional path to enabling consistent, quality mindfulness teaching in classrooms, institutions, and organizations around the world.

“Mindfulness practice has long been associated with lower stress, higher self-esteem and greater well-being for students and adults. Mindfulness teachers who have successfully completed an IMTA-accredited program are encouraged to gain recognition of their skills and expertise by applying to become a provisional Certified Mindfulness Teacher, Professional Level (CMT-P). IMTA Credentialing Tracks & Application Process The IMTA offers an accreditation track for educational organizations and a professional certification track for individual teachers. Candidates interested in certification or accreditation may submit applications on the IMTA website. The IMTA’s Credentialing Committee will review applications related to a core set of competency areas. Once credentialed, recipients will receive a seal illustrating their designation (CMT-P for individuals and AMTTP for programs), and a listing in the IMTA’s online directory of accredited programs and certified teachers.
