Milford cop punched during New Year’s Eve bust

MILFORD-A police officer was punched in the face while arresting a raucous house guest who alleged stole a laptop from a Naugatuck Avenue home.

Janice Lee, a 44-year old Prospect resident, is charged with assault on a police officer, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault and fourth-degree larceny.

Police were called to the house just after the clock struck 12 for the New Year. The individual reported having an unruly house guest who struck another person before grabbing a laptop and running from the home.

Police found Lee hiding in brush not far from the home. After she was helped her to her feet, Lee allegedly struck Police Officer Sean Owens in the head with a closed fist. Owens required medical attention.

Lee was taken into custody immediately.

Bond was set at $2,500 pending a Jan. 29 appearance in Milford Superior Court.
