John ‘Dewey’ Boswell III
John D. “Dewey” Boswell III, 65, of Bourbonnais, passed away Sunday (May 5, 2019) at his home.
He was born April 20, 1954, in Joliet, the son of John D. “Red” Jr. and Charlene (Voight) Boswell.
John married Barbara Winkle on March 8, 1980, at Bethel Baptist Church in Bourbonnais.
Dewey enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sports activities. He coached his children and grandchildren in football, baseball and softball.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Boswell, of Bourbonnais; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Hurst, of Bradley, and John IV and Casey Boswell, of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jeff Morris, of Manteno; his mother, Charlene Boswell, of Peotone; eight grandchildren, Bobby Hurst III, Alyssa Hurst, Caitlyn Hurst, Dalton Boswell, Logan Boswell, Colin Boswell, Makayla Morris and Aiden Morris; one sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Larry Domagalla, of Peotone; and one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Gail Boswell, of Kankakee.
Preceding him in death were his father, John D. “Red” Boswell Jr. and his mother-in-law, Lorene “Mickey” Winkle.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, also at the funeral home. The Rev. L. Wright Eavenson will officiate. Interment will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery in Kankakee.
