NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man who fired a gun in a crowded nightclub four years ago, killing a 26-year-old woman and injuring five other people, has been sentenced to 67 years in prison.

The New Haven Register reports that Adrian Bennett was sentenced this week after being convicted of murder and five counts of first-degree assault in connection with the shooting inside New Haven's Key Club Cabaret in October 2013.

Prosecutors say Bennett was aiming for another man, and Erika Robinson, of West Haven, was an innocent bystander. The intended target was one of those injured.

Bennett was convicted of the basis of club surveillance video which showed the shooting.

Bennett's attorney sought leniency, saying his client is a father of two who had a tough childhood.
