GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf is scheduled to speak on mental health and addiction issues in his Montana hometown.

The Great Falls Tribune reported Tuesday that the speaking engagement by the Great Falls native will be held at the C.M. Russell High School auditorium on May 2.

Organizers say Leaf is an advocate for people struggling with mental and behavioral health issues. He chairs the Focused Intensity Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships for people who can’t afford treatment.

The event will be presented by Gateway Community Services, an outpatient addiction service in Great Falls.

The lecture is free to the public, but seating will be limited.

Leaf played stints with the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys from 1998 to 2001.
