County Bus Driver Saves Two Children From Scranton Roadway

July 14, 2018

SCRANTON When county bus driver Arthur Levandoski saw two young children in the middle of Providence Road on Friday morning, he thought of his own grandchildren. Worried for the kids’ safety, the County of Lackawanna Transit System bus driver of 33 years stopped his bus to block traffic behind him, got out and stopped oncoming traffic, Levandoski said. He thought, “OK, I stopped the cars and everything, now what do I do,” he said, adding that he did not want to scare the kids and have them run away. He was able to get one child off the road while the other continued running down Providence, he said. Two women came out of a nearby house, collected the children and went inside, he said. A camera in the bus captured the events, and Levandoski reported the incident to police. It was unclear Friday night whether police would file charges. — FRANK WILKES LESNEFSKY
