James HalpinMay 25, 2019

The man stabbed during a domestic dispute Thursday sustained non-life threatening injuries during an altercation police say he initiated, police said Friday. Gerard Cruz, of 477 N. Main St., was stabbed in the neck during the dispute that broke out at his home Thursday morning, according to police. Police said the assailant, Cruz’s uncle Robert Machicote, called 911 to report he stabbed Cruz while protecting himself during a dispute Cruz initiated. Machicote, who lives in a separate apartment in the same building, was taken for questioning but had not been charged as of Friday afternoon. Cruz was treated at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for what police said were survivable injuries. The investigation was continuing, and anyone with information was asked to call police at 570-208-4224. — JAMES HALPIN
