Body of man allegedly killed by roommate found in forest
OJAI, Calif. (AP) — A decomposing body found in Angeles National Forest has been identified as a man investigators believe was killed by his roommate.
Cameron Lykins was arrested last month on suspicion of killing 22-year-old Houston Auer, even though no body had been found at the time.
Ventura County sheriff’s officials said deputies acting on a tip visited their home near Ojai and found “a bloody scene consistent with a homicide.”
Officials also said detectives found evidence in Lykins’ pickup indicating it been used to transport a body.
Auer’s body was found Sunday. Authorities have not said how he was killed.
Lykins remains jailed on $2 million bail. He is facing a count of second-degree murder. He has not entered a plea and a lawyer for the 23-year-old could not be found.
