Powerball drawing relocated, not televised because of Hurricane Michael
Hurricane Michael, which brought devastation to the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday, resulted in the relocation of the Powerball drawing.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery website, Powerball numbers are typically drawn from the Florida lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. As a result of Hurricane Michael, the drawing was moved to Urbandale, Iowa on Wednesday night.
Although the drawing was still held just before 11 p.m.. Eastern Time and security personnel and independent auditors were present, the drawing was not aired on any North Carolina television stations, including WRAL.
The winning numbers for Wednesday’s $282 million jackpot were 8, 23, 27, 42, 60 and Powerball 7. The Powerplay for Wednesday night was three.
