Local Colleges: Wilkes Ice Hockey Rallies Against Elmira

January 22, 2019

The Wilkes men’s ice hockey team erased four different one-goal deficits, drawing even and playing to a 4-4 tie against Elmira on Monday at the Toyota SportsPlex.

Donald Flynn scored during a 3-on-3 overtime period, which gave the Colonels an extra standings point and put them in first place in the UCHC. Under league rules, the game is still counted as a tie despite Flynn’s tally.

Flynn also scored as part of a three-goal third period for Wilkes (12-4-1, 8-2-1 UCHC), and Tyson Araujo and Brendan Logan also scored.

The game continued a string of good news for Wilkes, which had Tyler Barrow and Dylan Kuipers selected as the MAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Monday. Barrow had one goal and six assists over two games against Lebanon Valley.

Postponement

Monday’s scheduled doubleheader for Misericordia men’s and women’s basketball against DeSales was postponed and rescheduled for next Monday, Jan. 28. The women will play at 6 p.m., and the men’s game will follow.
