Man sentenced to 20 years for fatal stabbing in Bismarck
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of fatally stabbing an acquaintance at a Bismarck apartment in 2016 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Bismarck Tribune reports 58-year-old Morris Pederson was sentenced Friday. Pederson entered an Alford plea to a murder charge. The plea is not an admission of guilt but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction.
Pederson is accused of killing Greg Comes at Patterson Place, an assisted living and low-income apartment building. Police say Pederson and Comes met at Ruth Meiers Hospitality House, a homeless shelter.
Police identified Pederson as a suspect after he walked from the apartment complex to the Burleigh County Courthouse in a blood-stained shirt and asked sheriff’s deputies to help Comes, who was dead.
