Taos County man accused of molesting three girls
TAOS — A Taos County man charged with molesting two children and battering a third child this month in Peñasco is wanted by authorities on suspicion of raping a 5-year-old girl.
Raymond M. Hernandez, 29, was first arrested Jan. 14 and accused of sexually assaulting one 13-year-old girl and battering another after giving the girls alcohol at his home.
Court documents filed by the Taos County Sheriff’s Office say Hernandez was charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor, abuse of a child, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of battery.
Following a hearing in the Taos County Magistrate Court the following day, Hernandez was released on a $10,000 unsecured appearance bond and was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring unit.
According to his release order, Hernandez, who had no prior criminal history in New Mexico, was required to move in with a family member at a residence in Questa and was prohibited from having contact with the victims or their families.
Two days later, however, he was charged with raping a 19-month-old girl at the Peñasco home where he was accused of assaulting the teens.
Hernandez appeared in Magistrate Court for an initial hearing in that case Jan. 24, and was again released on an unsecured appearance bond, this time for $20,000.
The day of his release, Hernandez was accused of raping a 5-year-old girl at a neighbor’s home in Peñasco.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
