A dozen people displaced by Springfield fire
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say 12 people have been displaced after an electrical fire at a multi-family home in Springfield.
The blaze at the Belmont Avenue home was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Fire department spokesman Dennis Leger says the blaze was caused when overloaded electrical wires inside the wall on the first-floor living room overheated.
Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly but not before it burned through an outside wall and caused about $25,000.
All the family members got out of the house safely and no one was injured in the fire.
