McMeniman out of Rugby Championships
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Wallabies backrower Hugh McMeniman has had a new setback in an injury-plagued career, being ruled out of the remainder of the Rugby Championships with a damaged shoulder.
The 29-year-old Western Force player aggravated the shoulder injury he carried through most of the 2013 Super Rugby season and, on the advice of Wallabies medical staff, will undergo reconstructive surgery.
The operation will be performed in Brisbane next week and McMeniman is expected to be out of action for six months.
McMeniman played his first test for Australia since 2008 in the 47-29 loss to New Zealand at Sydney on Saturday. The teams meet again in Wellington this weekend.
