Dinner choice provokes alleged domestic violence incident
BRIDGEPORT - A local mechanic is accused of beating, choking and sexually assaulting his girlfriend because he didn’t like what she made him for dinner.
Sergio Ramos, 44, of Pembroke Street, was charged with attempted murder, third-degree sexual assault, strangulation and disorderly conduct.
He was being held in lieu of $1 million bond.
Officers busted down the door of a Pembroke Street home Saturday night after hearing a woman screaming for help in the home, police said. Once inside they found a partially dressed woman on the stairs crying hysterically with Ramos standing over her.
“I wasted 12 years with her,” police said Ramos told them.
Police said the woman had lots of bruises and was having trouble breathing. She was taken to the hospital while Ramos was taken into custody.
In an interview later at the hospital, police said the woman told them she and Ramos were having dinner when Ramos complained about the food and threw his plate on the floor. They said he then began punching and slapping the woman.
When the woman tried to run from the home, police said Ramos grabbed her by the hair and tried to drag her into the basement but she held fast to the door jam.
“I wasted 11 years of my life, I’m done, I had it,” police said Ramos shouted at the woman as he ripped her clothes of and began banging her head on the floor.
