Eloise Rhoades

Eloise M. Rhoades, 101, of Crescent City and Ewa Beach, Hawaii, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Feb. 21, 2019. She passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii. She then joined her beloved husband, John Rhoades, in heaven. He had preceded her in death in 1972.

She was born March 27, 1917, in Crescent City.

After graduating from Watseka High School and graduating from college in Normal, Eloise became a proud educator in a one-room country schoolhouse. While in Illinois, Eloise proudly taught for 20 years.

In 1960, Eloise and John moved from Illinois to Anaheim, Calif., where she continued to work as a teacher. She taught elementary school in Anaheim for 22 years. After retiring, she moved to San Diego, Calif. In 1997, she returned to Crescent City to live near her son, Gordon.

Eloise enjoyed reading, painting and designing birthday and holiday greeting cards for family and friends year after year. She enjoyed spending time at her family reunions in Wisconsin and spending warm winters in Hawaii.

Surviving are her son, Gordon; grandson, Steve and his family; grandson, Jeff and his family; along with many nieces and nephews; and her Hawaiian cat, Mochi.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, with the Rev. Bart Koester officiating. The family is requesting that those who attend wear casual attire.
