JUSTIFY hustled along springing from the starting gate, established control, showed the way, coaxed along from the rail on a loosely-contested lead, continued along under the same scenario all the way to the quarter pole, shifted into the two path when asked for a bit more turning into the stretch, would continue to drift out a bit more, but dug in gamely to stay in the clear.
GRONKOWSKI lumbered his way out of the starting gate, got tucked into the two path, proceeded along one-paced, picked up interest coming up to the half mile pole, moved by the rail-hugging FREE DROP BILLY and was guided over to the inside at the three-eighths pole, responded when put to a drive and reached contention with a strong rail run, tipped to the outside nearing the head of the
stretch, shouldered his way back into the two path, shadowed the winner by moving wider himself in the last eighth, showed willingness to the end but had to settle for the place.
HOFBURG unhurried two wide during the initial stages, tipped into path four by the top of the far turn, got driven six wide into the stretch, shied out a couple of paths between the furlong marker and the eighth pole, rallied well enough to secure the show.
VINO ROSSO raced in the three path on the first turn, inched his way into the two path by the end of the backstretch, prompted the top one during the ensuing quarter pole, got out-muscled for position by the runner up as they stepped into lane side by side, failed to make any headway in the final furlong.
TENFOLD angled sharply to the rail after the start, was steadied as BRAVAZO worked his way into the pocket on the opening bend, was maneuvered into the three path leaving the half mile pole, making it there a furlong later, swung five wide into lane, drifted a bit wider afterward while not making his presence felt.
BRAVAZO took up the chase from path two during the initial stages, got set up in the pocket shortly after entering the clubhouse turn, was firmly rated keeping watch on JUSTIFY, was tipped into path approaching the five-sixteenths pole, got driven six wide into the lane, had no response.
FREE DROP BILLY made it to the rail before reaching the conclusion of the homestretch, loped along towards the back of the field, was sent to the outside heading home, wandered seven wide a sixteenth into the stretch then drifted out a couple of additional paths and made no impact.
RESTORING HOPE three wide entering the first turn, moved in a bit stepping onto the backstretch, appeared done by the three-eighths pole and was allowed to steadily back away thereafter.
BLENDED CITIZEN four to three wide on the first turn, worked his way closer to the rail by the half mile pole, never reached a contending position during the opening mile, retreated in hand down the lane.
NOBLE INDY out with his initial step and brushed right side of the starting gate, accelerated upon recovery and took
up position in midpack, went about four wide around the clubhouse bend, continued his pursuit slightly closer to the rail after entering the backstretch, arrived at the top of the lane appearing to have little left and backed away.
