ST. LOUIS _ A St. Louis nonprofit is drawing praise from across the country for its de-escalation program, which has prevented gun violence by confronting feuds using trained mediators, involving loved ones and even moving individuals out of the state to avoid conflict. SENT: 330 words.


BAR FATAL _ A jury has found a 22-year-old Maryville man guilty of DWI resulting in death for crashing into a bar last year and killing a Northwest Missouri State University student.

CHILD KILLED _ A Missouri mother who did nothing to protect her infant from fatal abuse at the hands of her boyfriend has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.

MISSOURI-GRADUATE SCHOOL _ The University of Missouri has re-established its Graduate School as an academic and administrative unit.

ANIMALS RESCUED _ The Humane Society of Missouri says dogs and cats have been rescued from filthy conditions at the same western Missouri site for the third time in eight years.
