Lunenburg Holds Off Ayer Shirley

AYER -- The Lunenburg High football team won a battle of top contenders on Friday, defeating host Ayer Shirley, 17-13, in an exciting contest.

Lunenburg’s (5-1) defense was outstanding, led by Sam Tibbetts (3 sacks). Nick Hall and Connor Anderson played well in secondary, Joe Rivers and JR Nelson were dominant on the line, and Zach Pearson had a solid game at linebacker.

Offensively, Troy Drasser piled up more than 100 yards rushing to go along with a touchdown, and Dawson Powell also stepped up. Chris Costich, Colby Sprague and Mason Infantino led Lunenburg in the passing game.
