Gunshots fired at Cleveland home near four children asleep on couch

CLEVELAND, Ohio – At least three gunshots were fired at a home in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, striking a living room window and wall near four children asleep on a couch.

No one was harmed in the incident that happened late Monday on Central Avenue near East 30th Street, according to a police reports.

The children’s 25-year-old mother said she’d been arguing with the 30-year-old father or children recently, and believed he fired the gunshots. The man texted her shortly before the shooting and told her to stop “dogging him” and “wait 30,” police reports say.

The man has not been arrested or charged in connection with the shooting, court and jail records show.

Four children – ages 9, 5, 4 and 2 – were asleep on a couch when the shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. A 6-month-old child was asleep with the mother in a bedroom, police reports say.

The mother heard the gunshots and went to check on the four children in the living room. She found a bullet hole in the window.

Police found another bullet hole in the wall, and a bullet fragment on a window seal. They also found three bullet casings in a parking lot outside the home, police reports say.
