Woman killed in collision on Highway 20

June 6, 2018

A 95-year-old Eastsound woman was killed Monday in a collision on Highway 20.

According to a State Patrol report, Kathryn M. Jensen was stopped at a stop sign on Campbell Lake Road about 3 p.m. when she apparently took a left turn onto Highway 20 in front of a southbound Skagit County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

The vehicles collided, and both came to rest blocking the northbound lanes of Highway 20, the report states.

Jensen was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Prizm, the report states.

The deputy was on duty and was driving an unmarked 2015 Ford Explorer, Skagit County Sheriff Will Reichardt said.

The vehicle was totaled, but the deputy was uninjured, Reichardt said.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected to be involved, and the deputy will not face any charges, according to the report.
