September 19, 2018

PALMER, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police have made an arrest in a sexual assault reported by a woman who ran out of the woods to flag down a trucker on an interstate highway.

Police say at about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday the woman ran from a wooded area along the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer, flagged down a passing tractor-trailer and reported she had been sexually assaulted.

Troopers later arrested 25-year-old Leemichael Collins. Police say he held the 38-year-old woman against her will, assaulted her and choked her inside a camping trailer in Palmer.

Police say Collins lives on the street where the trailer is located. The woman was treated at the hospital.

Collins will be arraigned later Wednesday. It could not immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.

This story has been corrected to reflect that the woman ran from the woods in Palmer, not Brimfield as first reported by police.
