El Mirage man gets 12 years for trading child porn images
PHOENIX (AP) — An El Mirage man has been sentenced for his role in trading child porn using a Canadian chat service.
The Office of the Arizona Attorney General said 25-year-old Marco Antonio Alvarado was ordered last week to serve 12 years for sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
He will also be on lifetime probation upon his release and have to register as a sex offender.
The sentencing comes after Alvarado pleaded guilty last month.
According to prosecutors, Canadian authorities and U.S. Homeland Security determined in 2015 that Alvarado had posted links on Chatzy to cloud-based storage accounts holding graphic images of children being sexually exploited.
A search of his home found deleted images on his laptop.
