North Metro Fire Hosts First Citizens Fire Academy
North Metro Fire Rescue District will host its first Citizens Fire Academy, which will run Sept. 5 through Oct. 16.
The district will accept applications, which can be found at nmfr.org/citizensacademy, until Aug. 13.
Residents can learn about the ins-and-outs of the fire district, including emergency operations to safety education. The academy will cover topics such as: how emergency calls are dispatched, what types of calls North Metro Fire responds to, how firefighters train to handle hazards, what role fire prevention plays in the community and how the district partners with community members.
The academy is free and available to residents 18 years and older who meet minimum program requirements. It will be limited to 15 people and will be held Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and one Saturday.
It is not designed for people seeking a career in the fire service but for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the operations of fire district.
