Promus Sets Up Hotel Marketing Arm For Asia, Pacific
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ The Promus Companies Inc. is setting up a Hong Kong marketing arm to develop and franchise hotels in 30 countries in Asia and the Pacific, company officials said Monday.
Promus will become a minority partner in KYZ International Ltd., whose other partners include former Holiday Inn executives Rudiger Koppen, See Foon Koppen, Francis Yan and Ernest Zimmerman.
The new company will market and franchise Embassy Suites and Hampton Inns, two hotel brands owned by Promus.
Promus also owns Homewood suites and Harrah’s casinos.
″We feel our hotel brands are in an ideal position to establish a strong presence throughout the Pacific Rim,″ said D. Michael Meeks, president of the Promus Companies Hotel Group.
Promus was established after Holiday Inns was bought in 1990 by Bass PLC of Great Britain.
