IXONIA -- Robert A. Tietz, 83, of Ixonia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Clearview in Juneau.

Funeral services for Robert will be held on Saturday at noon at Cross Lutheran Church in Ixonia with the Rev. James Stein officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.

Robert Albert Tietz was born March 4, 1935, in Ashippun, son of Reinhard and Viola (maiden name Eske) Tietz. He married the former Judy Schwartz on Oct. 5, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. He worked as a dairy farmer and carpenter. He volunteered on the Ixonia Fire Department, becoming assistant fire chief and earning Firefighter of the Year in 1977. He helped as manager at Ixonia Firemen’s Hall and booked bands for Sunday afternoons. Robert ran concessions with Judy for baseball games at Ixonia Park. He enjoyed snowmobiling, raccoon and deer hunting and going to Canada to fish with friends. Robert was a season ticket holder of the Packers and loved cheering for them. He and Judy attended dances for many years. Most of all, Robert loved his family.

Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Tietz; children, Brian (Sherrie) Tietz, Karla Engel, Dale Tietz, all of Watertown; grandchildren, Tyler Jung, Josh (Rikki) Gutzdorf, Justin (Sarah) Gutzdorf; great-grandsons, Ayden and Theodore Gutzdorf; sister, Joann Olsen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Christian.
