Poverty event to examine ways to help low-income families

October 28, 2018

BOSTON (AP) — Poverty experts are gathering in Boston for a national conference aimed at examining solutions to help America’s low-income families.

The biennial Disrupting the Poverty Cycle Conference opens Thursday at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. It runs through Friday.

The conference is organized by Economic Mobility Pathways, a nonprofit group that works to help women and their families escape poverty.

The group’s president and CEO, Elisabeth Babcock, says breaking the cycle of poverty is “more complex than ever.”

Organizers say experts will discuss the link between health and poverty and other issues.
