Sword-wielding assailant in custody

NEEDLES — A 35-year-old Needles woman has been jailed after slashing a victim’s arm with a sword.

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department’s Colorado River Station in Needles were summoned to the scene of an assault in the 400 block of Bazoobuth Street around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2. Their investigation revealed that a heated argument had taken place, during which the woman produced a small sword and cut the victim’s forearm. She was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and remained in custody at the Colorado River Station jail on $50,000 bond.
