HONOLULU _Steve Stricker came to Hawaii for two weeks of work, just like the old days, but with a twist. Instead of starting at the winners-only field at Kapalua and then going over to the Sony Open, he started at the Sony Open and heads to the winners-only field on the Big Island for the PGA Tour Champions opener. The question is how long he stays with players his own age. It’s a question Vijay Singh and Davis Love III have contemplated over the last few years. SENT: 1,440 words, photos.

HAWAII-MEDICAL MARIJUANA

HILO, Hawaii _ A Big Island company is looking to open the first medical marijuana dispensary on the island this week. Big Island Grown aims to open three locations on the island within the next month, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported Monday. The company is one of only two businesses licensed to sell medical marijuana products on the Big Island. SENT: 240 words.

BALLOT RECOUNT BILLS

HONOLULU _ At least three state senators are drafting legislation that would require automatic recounts in close election races in Hawaii. The bills being drafted seek to avoid or more quickly resolve election disputes such as the one ongoing for a Honolulu City Council seat, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Monday.
