Vigil at Md. church where bombing victim teaches

April 17, 2013

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — A Baltimore-area church where one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings teaches has scheduled a prayer vigil for the more than 170 victims of the explosions.

The Rev. Ken Saunders says the vigil will be held Wednesday evening at Trinity Episcopal Church in Towson. Erika Brannock of Towson and her sister Nicole Gross of Charlotte, N.C., were among those injured Monday while waiting at the finish line for their mother, Carol Downing, to finish the race. Gross’ husband, Michael Gross, also was injured.

The 29-year-old Brannock teaches 2-year-olds at the church’s preschool.

Family members say the two sisters face long recoveries. Brannock lost a leg and her 31-year-old sister suffered two broken legs and a severed Achilles tendon.
