Deputy stabbed trying to arrest NCarolina assault suspect
RAMSEUR, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina deputy is recovering after being stabbed while trying to arrest an assault suspect.
Randolph County sheriff’s deputies said Saturday that Lt. Kevin Walton was discharged from a hospital after getting treatment for cutting and stabbing wounds. Officials say a detective was also hurt Friday while trying to arrest Clarence Rodney Harris, but he didn’t need medical care.
Deputies say they responded to a 911 call about an armed person and after arriving found that the caller had been attacked.
Investigators charged Harris with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, resisting an officer, and assault inflicting serious injury.
