February 13, 2019

JACKSON TWP. — A State Correctional Institution Dallas inmate was arraigned Tuesday on arson charges alleging he set fire to his cell in December. Earl Aquil McCloud, 38, is facing three felony counts of arson and one misdemeanor count of institutional vandalism. State troopers said a fire was discovered in McCloud’s cell in the F Block of the prison around 6:45 p.m. Dec. 12. Police said McCloud, the only occupant of the cell, used a small Bic lighter to set fire to a pile of combustible materials he placed on the cell floor. McCloud is also alleged to have broken out the glass to his cell window. McCloud, who is serving two to four years in a 2017 burglary case from York County, remains in custody at SCI Dallas. — JAMES HALPIN
