Police Arrest Suspect In Slaying of Erik Estrada’s Godfather
NEW YORK (AP) _ A 20-year-old has been arrested in the stabbing death of TV actor Erik Estrada’s godfather last fall, police said.
Luis Munoz was charged Thursday with second-degree murder in the slaying of Nicholas Diaz, 58, inside his apartment.
A chicken, a dead fowl and a machete were found near his body Nov. 7, and feathers were arranged around an altar, police said.
″Diaz was into voodoo but he wasn’t killed because of that,″ said Sgt. Thomas Brady. ″We believe it was a good old standard money robbery or property robbery.″
An undetermined amount of money, a television and a videocasette recorder were taken, he said.
The victim’s godson played a California Highway Patrol officer in the TV series ″CHiPs.″
