TORONTO (AP) — Detroit Tigers right-hander Jordan Zimmermann is perfect through six innings against the Toronto Blue Jays on opening day.

Zimmermann has struck out three and thrown 55 pitches, including 35 strikes, in Toronto on Thursday.

Hall of Famer Bob Feller is the only pitcher to throw a no-hitter on opening day, doing it for Cleveland against the Chicago White Sox on April 16, 1940. The Indians won 1-0.

Zimmermann threw a no-hitter for Washington in 2014 against the Marlins.

The Tigers have two hits off Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman, both singled, but have not scored a run.
