Motorcyclist not implicated in mystery Alps killings in 2012
PARIS (AP) — A prosecutor says investigators have found no evidence to implicate a French motorcyclist in the macabre killings of three members of an Iraqi-British family and a passing cyclist in the Alps 21/2 years ago.
British police issued an artist’s sketch 16 months ago of a motorcyclist seen near the scene of the killings of Saad al-Hilli and three others near Annecy in September 2012.
Annecy prosecutor Eric Maillaud said Friday that investigators questioned the motorcyclist — a hang-gliding hobbyist with no criminal record — in recent weeks after cross-checking some 4,000 telephone records against motorcycle-license data.
Maillaud said authorities have “no way of implicating” the motorcyclist, but he will be questioned again. Maillaud said investigators have “nothing in particular” as far as other possible leads.
