PEORIA, Ill. (AP) _ Seething from a lover's quarrel, Christina Mack greased up the top of a stairway hoping her one-legged boyfriend would slip and tumble, police claim.

But her plan backfired when she slipped on the floor herself and was knocked unconscious. When she awoke, she found herself under arrest.

Mack, 35, was held Tuesday on $10,000 bond on charges of aggravated battery, attempted aggravated battery and domestic battery.

Police had initially arrested her on an attempted murder charge but that was not among the formal charges filed Tuesday.

Her boyfriend, Chester Parkman Sr., initially told officers he and Mack, who is six weeks pregnant, had been arguing about her health and that she was trying to make him fall on the slippery floor.

He later changed his story and said she was just trying to spruce up the house.

``I honestly think she was trying to wax the floor,'' Parkman, 50, who uses crutches to get around, told the Journal Star of Peoria.

Police were called to the couple's home late Sunday to find Mack unconscious on a greasy kitchen floor and a team of firefighters giving her first aid.

Most of the grease was near the top of the stairs and at the door of the bathroom, police said.

After Mack regained consciousness, she admitted to the plot, police said. She also told a neighbor what she was planning.

``They were in a fight, that's all I know,'' neighbor Juanita Esders said. ``She said she was going to grease up the floor so her boyfriend would fall.''
