Hot, humid weather to stick around through Monday
BRIDGEPORT — Another period of hot and humid weather is headed our way Sunday and Monday with heat indexes expected to reach the mid- to upper-90s, the National Weather Service said.
The heat index is a measure of how hot it really is by factoring in relative humidity to the air temperature. For information on heat safety, visit www. weather.gov/safety/heat.
The heat index on Monday could likely reach around 100 degrees. High heat indexes might linger into Tuesday, too.
Maximum temperatures on Sunday are expected to be in the low 90s. At its peak, the heat index will likely be in the mid- to upper-90s.
Then, on Monday, maximum temperatures will be mainly in the low 90s with the heat index to be in the mid-90s to 100 degrees.
The forecast will be scattered throughout the week.
Early Sunday morning, fog will creep into the state after 3 a.m. The temperature will hover around 71. Fog will continue to be patchy before 9 a.m. Otherwise, it’ll be a sunny day with a high temperature of about 92 degrees. The heat index will be around 97 degrees.
In the evening Sunday it’ll be mostly clear with a low around 73 degrees.
On Monday it will be sunny with a high near 92. The night will be mostly clear with a low around 75.
Tuesday will be another sunny day, with a high near 89, but there’s a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms in the evening.
During the day Wednesday, the threat of rain and thunderstorms sticks around — this time at 40 percent. In the evening that chance drops back down to 30 percent, with a low around 71.
