Rowing CT Boat Club earns first-place finish in race at Youth Nationals

Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club left the USRowing Youth National Championship with a first-place medal.

Connecticut Boat Club won the women’s youth 4+ race at the National Championship’s 2000-meter Lake Natoma course in California last weekend. Navigating the championship boat were Julia Abbruzzese of Darien and Ridgefield, Kat Kern from Greenwich, Vivi Van Ingen of Darien (coxswain), Catherine Garrett of Darien and Olivia Luther from Fairfield. They finished the race with a winning time of 7:29.275.

CBC also qualified two additional boats for the championship and placed fourth in the women’s youth 4x race. The boat included: Ella Petreski of Pound Ridge, N.Y., Jenna Macrae of New Canaan, Ellie Urdang from Greenwich and Bridget Galloway of Ridgefield. In the women’s youth 2- event, Casey Batson of Darien and Heidi Jacobson from Greenwich posted a sixth-place finish for CBC.
