South Carolina man charged with murder, sexual assault
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man has been arrested and charged with killing a man and sexually assaulting a woman in separate incidents.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell told news outlets Tuesday that 32-year-old Daniel Young of Orangeburg was arrested after deputies connected him to the attacks.
Deputies were called to a home in Orangeburg County on Aug. 3 and found the body of 32-year-old Quintrell Laverne Smith of Orangeburg beside an overturned moped. Smith had been shot and killed.
A Columbia woman told deputies she was attacked last week at a home in Orangeburg.
Deputies were able to connect Young to both crimes. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual assault and kidnapping in the attack on the woman.
It was not known if he has an attorney yet.
