Lawsuit: Center failed to protect boy from sexual abuse
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A mother is seeking damages from a Billings youth treatment center where she claims her son was sexually assaulted by other residents.
According to the lawsuit, a boy at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch exposed himself to the woman’s son and sexually assaulted him. A second boy masturbated while standing in the alleged victim’s doorway.
The Associated Press is not naming the mother to protect the boy’s identity.
The Billings Gazette reports the mother said in court Thursday that her brother had also been sexually assaulted during his time at a youth residential facility.
She says before she enrolled her son, staff assured her that they did not accept aggressive perpetrators of sexual offenses.
The ranch denies it was negligent and says it handled the complaints according to policy.
