‘New Again Akron’ shopping trail debuts for holiday season

AKRON, Ohio – More than 20 shops dealing in vintage, antique and reclaimed items in the Akron area are participating in the recently launched “New Again Akron” shopping trail.

The shopping trail, which was coordinated by the Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau via a grant from the Fund for Our Economic Future, aims to boost visitation to participating shops.

“Retail continues to be one of the key economic drivers of Greater Akron’s overall hospitality economy,” said bureau President and CEO Gregg Mervis in a news release. “Retail expenditures by residents and visitors support employment, business bottom lines, and sales tax revenue. Spurring visitation to these wonderfully eclectic shops was the primary goal of the project, plus they’re just really cool and funky places to visit.”

The owners of Gypsy Grace & The Vintage Goat were inspired to create the trail after seeing the Summit Brew Path passport initiative.

The shopping trail is listed on TourismOhio’s list of trails featured throughout the state. Trail brochures are available at participating shops.
