Huskers put three in finals, place third as team at Cliff Keen Invitational

December 2, 2018

The Husker wrestling team finished in third place and sent three wrestlers to the finals of the Cliff Keen Invitational on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Despite winning just one of those championship matches, Isaiah White at 165 pounds, it was a huge step forward for White and 197-pounder Eric Schultz.

Schultz lost a decision to Ohio State’s Kollin Moore 8-3.

Taylor Venz was the other Nebraska finalist. He lost to 2018 NCAA runner up Myles Martin of Ohio State by an 11-5 decision.

Nebraska’s Tyler Berger finished in third place at 157 pounds, after losing to Purdue’s Griffin Parriott in the quarterfinals.

Mikey Labriola finished in fourth place for Nebraska at 174 pounds and Zeke Moisey took seventh at 125 pounds. Labriola reached the third-place match due to a medical forfeit by Purdue’s Dylan Lydy, but the injured Labriola in turn posted a medical forfeit for the match to finish fourth.

Ohio State won the overall team competition with 148 points.
