Warsaw woman killed in weekend crash
A 21-year-old Warsaw woman is dead and three others were taken to hospitals after a crash near Mentone Saturday night.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m., emergency responders were called to county roads 1000 West and 900 South, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s department said.
Investigators said 19-year-old Kalista Dobbins was driving south when a westbound 2006 Ford Fusion, driven by 21-year-old Tertius Steyn, failed to yield the right of way and entered the path of the Dobbins’ 2003 Chevy Tahoe.
Steyn’s car was hit on the passenger side during the crash, killing Hope Steyn, police said.
Tertius Steyn was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for facial injuries.
Dobbins suffered minor injuries, police said, and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. A male passenger was not injured and an infant was medically cleared by the hospital.
The crash is under investigation.
