Tornado Awareness Week in Watertown
Watertown Mayor John David has proclaimed the week of April 8 through April 12 as Tornado Awareness Week.
In the proclamation David stated that Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes a year with greatest frequency between the months of April and August, with 29 tornado touchdowns in the state last year.
A drill will take place Thursday, April 11 with a mock tornado watch issued at 1 p.m. and a mock tornado warning occurring at 1:45 p.m.
“In Watertown and encourage each member of our community to participate in the simulated watch and warning to occur on April 11, recognizing that understanding the warning system and taking simple precautions may mean the difference between life and death,” David said.
